天造．地設：歲時中的工藝 From Nature To Function – Exhibition of Folk Crafts And Four Seasons

工藝是人與自然韻律互動所產生的心血結晶，人依循季候變化，取材於自然，用之於生活，這是所有工藝材料生命的必然。人類一年中的生活深刻地受到材料的生命週期影響，材料的生長、採收、製作與使用，無不與此有關。本次展覽以「順天時」、「接地氣」、「新島人的歲時」三個單元，勾勒在週而復始的歲時中，工藝的樣貌與形態。
Crafts are objects created by the rhythmic interaction between nature and people. In the past, people often put too much emphasis on the process of how craft works are made and what they are made from but they neglected the life cycle of the materials themselves and their natural environments. In facts, people’s social lives are heavily affected by the life cycle of materials; people need to live their lives in accordance with the natural environment and make good use of the resources provided by nature to make their lives better.
“Following Heavenly Laws”, “Down to Earth” and “The Seasonal Crafts for the People in Taiwan” are the three main topics of this exhibition to portray the roles that crafts have played in traditional festivals. Affected by nature and inspired by earth, these participating craft workers have also created many works based upon seasons and festivals.

導言 - 順天時 Intro- Following Heavenly Law臺灣獨特的地理位置，造就自成一格的季候環境，形塑了島上居民的生活節奏。北迴歸線穿越花蓮、嘉義和澎湖，分屬亞熱帶與熱帶氣候的臺灣，常年高溫有雨；加之山地面積多，海拔高度落差大，因而臺灣擁有得天獨厚的豐富生態，孕育了先來後到的島民與種類繁多的工藝材料，由此，人們順應環境和氣候而發展出了不同因地制宜的生活與工藝。
The unique geographical location has endowed Taiwan with its own climate and environment; it has also shaped the life rhythm for the people. Thus, the gathering times of the raw materials for making crafts also have to follow the rules of seasons. No matter it is crop farming in spring or harvesting in autumn, everything has its rhythm for people to live by periodically. -
傳承：繼續編入生活的月桃再生 Heritage: Shell-flower Weaving for Everyday Life過去魯凱族女性須在結婚前，先學會做家裡必備的月桃編織，生活用品如月桃蓆、提籃、盛器。對於魯凱族人而言，月桃葉鞘的編織不僅是器物而是生活本身。 黃芳琪向魯凱族人學習編織月桃，開設「月桃戲工作室」，從學習者而成為了技藝延續者之一。除了「做物」技術的教學，也透過推廣將人與「用物」的關係傳遞下去。
Huang Fang Chi learned from Rukai people to use daily utensils made from shell-flower leaf sheath weaving adn pass down the technique to the next generations; moreover, we can also pass down the products made from shell-flower leaf sheath weaving to the future. -
再生：重新染上臺灣藍 Rebirth: Indigo Dyeing in Taiwan復振藍染的三十年，是好幾代師生的努力而能讓「臺灣藍」重現於臺灣人的生活中。馬芬妹意外得知藍染曾是興盛的工藝產業，開始尋找藍草、累積藍染技術的經驗，過程中也培養出後進，讓藍染技藝延續。 三十年前第一代的藍染人是重新找回這項技藝，第二代藍染人的使命便是將藍染再帶回到人們的生活中。湯文君長期隨馬老師投入藍染工藝，2014 年開拓了自己的一方藍草事業「自然色農場」，試圖從藍草種植到染成作品都獨立完成。
If the mission of Ma Fen Mei in thirty years ago was to bring back the technique of indigo dye, then bringing it into people's daily life should be the mission of Ma's successor, Tang Wen Chun, who has already been in this industry for twelve years. -
日常：生活中的臺灣竹藝 Everydayness: Bamboo Craft in Daily Life由於竹子的材質可變相多樣，生長速度可快速成材，昔日農村社會中無論是原住民族或漢人，都大量使用竹子於器具、家具、建築的利用，是日常生活中相當重要的工藝材料。 對於林群涵而言，竹藝品取材於自然，利用於自然，模仿於自然，惟有兼顧了竹林經營，又將巧思應用於日常生活中，才能讓融入生活的竹工藝充滿無限可能。
It has always been an initial intention of Lin chun Han to transform the greenness and texture of the bamboo forest in the mountain into bamboo craft works in everyday life. It has also been Lin's expertise to make good use of teh characteristics of bamboo whenever he wants to create a work.
