王清霜先生早年從事漆器工藝品的生產製作,及後來專心於漆器藝術創作,在漆藝的技法上揮灑出獨特的燦爛的光彩;本篇由工藝師生命歷程中的重要事件切入,加入人文情感的關懷,針對漆藝大師-王清霜先生的生平、師承、技藝、作品做研究調查與紀錄,著眼於工藝師製作工藝的精神,而不在於作品的對就,經過研究整理後完成的影像紀錄,對於技藝的傳承與史料的保存,都是一個最佳的推廣。

匠作之手-漆藝概論與高蒔繪技法 (30’)

「高蒔繪」是漆藝的蒔繪技法中,工序最繁複、最需具備美術底子的專業技法之一,主要的製作技法是在漆面描繪圖像紋樣,以炭粉墊高後再撒(蒔)上金粉、銀粉、銅粉或乾漆粉,其呈現猶如在漆面上做出淺浮雕的技術,表現金銀圖紋明暗交錯與層次躍動之熠熠光輝。本篇以深入淺出的方式,介紹漆藝概論及高蒔繪技法工序,等於將師徒相傳的手工藝,以教學方法建構成有系統的民間知識,讓高蒔繪技法能在台灣延續與發展。

A Road Without Bends—Master Lacquer Artist Wang Ching-shuang (30’)

Wang Ching-shuang spent his early years on the production side of the lacquer industry, but later moved to the creative side of lacquer art where he developed a unique style. This program looks at the life of a craftsman, the events that marked his progress, as well as the human side of his development. We look at his influences, the development of his technique, reveal the dedication that goes into the making of a great craftsman, rather than focusing on the works themselves. This video record of his life, and the ways the art has been passed down from one generation to another, will serve to promote this ancient art in the modern world.

Lacquer Artistry—The Theory of Lacquer Art and Makie Technique (30’)

Relief makie is one of the most complex and difficult of the forms of lacquer art, and the one requiring a solid artistic foundation. The techniques comprise tracing the pattern onto the lacquer, using powdered charcoal to build up the relief image, and laying gold, silver or bronze power or powdered lacquer on top of this. This technique can create a sense of depth within the lacquer, and the patterns interact on different levels and through the play of light and shadow. This program takes a look at the theory and practice of how relief makie is created to serve as a document for the transmission of this art. It is part of a systematic system of information about Taiwan’s folk arts that will assist in its further development in Taiwan.
